Pete celebrates his 67th birthday tomorrow, born on May 19, 1945 in London, England.

And an "amazing journey" it surely has been.

What can anyone say about the genius of Townshend that hasn't already been said?

One of the Greatest Guitarists of All Time.  Check.

The intellectual, yet spiritually-oriented Townshend was a devotee of the late mystic Meher Baba (his guru), and of course his love for him and influence by him can be seen in so many of Pete's songs.

The lyrical work of Pete Townshend in The Who was probably my first taste of spirituality in rock music, and I still can't get enough of it.

The Who's album, "Tommy" blew my mind altogether (as it did so many of us), and that was just the beginning of what would become a lifelong love of Pete's bold and unflinching exploration of life and love and God.

A happy (early) birthday to one of rock's living legends!
