Pet Pig Saves Family from Fire

Pigs are notoriously intelligent, and this little piggy is no exception.

A family in Mt. Carmel, Illinois escaped injury last weekend after its pet pig awoke them when the trailer they all live in caught fire.

Homeowner Ina Farler said:

"He started screaming. He would jump down, run to the door and then jump back up on the bed and hit me really hard."

Pigs, as Farler said, can be "very protective".

She and her grandchildren escaped safely, as did Lucky.

(No BBQ jokes, please, I know you want to go there!) :-D

I love all animals, and am very intrigued by pigs and their renowned intelligence.

I'm also heartbroken at their brutal treatment on factory farms and in slaughterhouses.

This pet sure is "lucky" to be loved by humans! :-)
