A Manahawkin based contractor will spend 180-days (about six-months) in prison following a sentencing Friday and a guilty plea for to theft.

Robert Vernon Perrini, 38, of 'Perrini and Sons Fences', was accused of signing contracts with five different customers to put a fence on their property, then taking their money from the purchase agreement but never doing any of the work.

Perrini took the money and gave the customer an estimated completion date.

He never refunded any of the customer's money either following the initial deposit, according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

The five victims all filed complaints against him.

Perrini was also working without a valid contractor's registration.

As a condition of his guilty plea he'll also spend five-years on probation and is ordered to pay approximately $11,000.00 in restitution over that time period.

The charge is the result of an investigation conducted by Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Economic Crimes Unit Detective Stephen Shadiack, Jr. and prosecuted by OCPO Senior Assistant Prosecutor William Scharfenberg.
