Riverside Police are investigating the moments leading up to a car accident that killed a passenger Sunday night around 7:23 pm.

The 61-year old driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe was trying to turn left onto Vista Grande Drive from Alessandro Boulevard when a Ford Mustang heading east on Alessandro collided with the passengers side of the Hyundai.

The passenger was thrown from the car and later died in hospitalization.

The release of the identity of the deceased is pending the coroner's investigation.

Both of the drivers were brought to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Police don't suspect drugs and/or alcohol to be a factor in the crash at this point.

The Riverside Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and is currently investigating.
