With Chris Christie and the governor's office shutting down over 900 road projects, the huge reconstruction of Parkway Exit 91 has been halted.

Brick officials say they have not heard from the state as to how the shutdown of the Transportation Trust Fund will affect the timeline to completion.

The reconstruction project is technically a county undertaking, but is being largely funded by the state. After the state legislature and Governor Christie failed to come to a compromise on raising the state’s gas tax last week, the governor ordered over 900 projects funded through the TTF shut down.

When asked if township crews could temporarily repair the numerous potholes and bumps in the construction area, Brick Mayor John Ducey simply said "They're not our roads." Brick officials said people who experience damage to their vehicles must contact the county.

The interchange 91 project is one of two projects in Brick that have been stopped, the other being the Route 35 reconstruction project. The Route 35 project is almost finished, whereas the Exit 91 projects is only around halfway done. Mayor Ducey said the county had estimated the project would have been completed in February, but now an end-date is uncertain.
