An overnight cold front swept out the mugginess, and will usher in a streak of downright gorgeous weather through the rest of the week.

Bye bye, humidity... Hello, extended stretch of pleasant summer weather! In fact, the weather over the next few days will be so nice, I'm breaking from my usual "headlines" weather blog format to discuss this "easy" forecast!

An overnight cold front delivered much drier and slightly cooler air to New Jersey. So our heat wave and enduring mugginess have come to an end. However, it's still going to be quite warm today - it is summer, after all. High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid 80s across the state today... and I wouldn't rule out a couple of readings in the upper 80s in South Jersey today. And again, it will be quite pleasant as we won't have to "chew" through humid air, with comfortable dew points in the 50s. Today will also feature abundant sunshine, a few fair-weather cumulus clouds this afternoon, and an occasionally brisk northwest breeze up to about 20 mph.

Perhaps the best impact of this delicious dry air will be comfortable evenings and refreshingly cool nights. Low temperatures tonight should fall into the lower 60s for most of New Jersey, with 50s possible in the northwest corner of the state.

Consistency is the word for the rest of the week... Both Thursday and Friday will continue the trend of mostly sunny skies, warm temperatures, and low humidity. High temperatures will hold steady and close-to-normal, in the mid 80s.

Humidity will slowly return this weekend, but that fact shouldn't get in the way of a gorgeous Saturday. Once again, sunshine will dominate the day, with warm and pleasant temperatures in the lower to mid 80s. Sunday will start off fine, but clouds will increase as the day progresses, and we will see a chance for showers and thunderstorms starting Sunday afternoon through the evening hours.
