A stabbing victim in Monmouth's Ocean Township may have lied about where it took place, but he didn't fabricate the wound.

Police say the 41-year old man was not attacked on Bimbler Boulevard Saturday April 21 but by someone he knew possibly prior to the stabbing.

The victim was met by police at Jersey Shore University Medical Center around 7:31 am after suffering a stab wound to his neck.

He told police he was attacked from behind while walking his dog around 4:00 am, but that story turned out to be fabricated.

After the stabbing he hopped in a cab and went to the hospital without notifying police or EMS.

The victim underwent surgery for the wound and is now stable.

32-year old Donnicka Smith was later identified and arrested without incident on charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Child Endangerment.

She was transported to the county jail pending an initial court appearance.
