Each instance reflects water-quality test results revealing elevated bacteria levels, primarily fecal coliform or enterococcus.

  • Ocean County Park, Lakewood - closed
  • Harry Wright Lake, Manchester, high and low beaches - closed
  • Ocean Township Beach (Waretown Lake) - closed
  • A. Paul King Park Beach, Stafford Township - closed

There has been no update on the July 27 closure of Hancock Avenue beach in Seaside Heights, though the notice remains posted at the county Health Department website.

In many instances, high bacteria levels are the result of roiling action produced during rain storms. We'll keep you updated on test results after the squalls move through.
