While most of the Garden State will enjoy a mix of sun and clouds and mild temperatures, part of the state will once again be plagued by clouds and showers.

On Tuesday, I proclaimed Wednesday would be nice day for New Jersey - which will remain true for most of the state! However, I was hedging my forecast on a blob of rain staying to our southwest. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's going to happen, with clouds and showers likely clipping the southern part of the Garden State Wednesday.

Along and south of the Atlantic City Expressway, look for mostly cloudy skies and highs limited to the 60s. Rain showers are likely to persist for much of the day.

Between the Atlantic City Expressway and Interstate 195, the forecast is a bit more uncertain. Showers will be possible, but not a sure bet. Additionally, you may deal with thick clouds overhead for part or most of the day. Temperatures will hopefully make it into the upper 60s.

For the northern half of New Jersey (above I-195), breaks of sunshine and dry weather should allow temperatures to warm into the pleasant lower 70s. Even better, winds will stay very light today, allowing us to enjoy the warmth and sunshine without getting blown away.

Gorgeous Thursday

By Thursday, we all get to enjoy our first positively beautiful day of May! Finally!

High temperatures will be just above normal, in the lower to mid 70s. (As usual, the coast will end up cooler, due to the sea breeze.) Skies should be mostly sunny for most of the day, and we'll enjoy light winds around 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday is clearly our "weather winner of the week".

Mix of Wet and Dry Weather for the Weekend

Friday should start off just fine for New Jersey, with partly sunny skies and high temperatures quickly rising into the mid 70s (at least). However, an approaching storm system is expected to drag a front through the state around the late afternoon and evening hours. And that front is expected to fire off a brief period of potentially rain and strong thunderstorms. Best timing for this rain looks to be from about 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Saturday again will begin with quiet weather: partly sunny skies, with highs around 70 degrees. However, once again, a round of rain is possible - this time, just a few showers through Saturday afternoon. Everyone in the state is prone to get wet on Saturday, but any rainfall should stay on the light side.

Sunday will be rain-free and mostly sunny. But we will close out the weekend with noticeably cooler temperatures, with highs only in the lower 60s (at bests). A brisk westerly wind will kick up, gusting to 25 mph at times. So, not a perfect day and not a perfect weekend... But not terrible either!
