Starting October 1st, NJ's gas tax will increase by 4.3 cents a gallon (more than 10 percent).

After years with a low gas tax, NJ skyrocketed near the top of the country's highest rate in 2016. Now, New Jersey will have the fifth-highest gas tax in the country.

Governor Murphy is blaming Christie's administration, saying “the precise change in the gas tax rate is dictated by several factors, all of which are beyond the control of the current administration."
