Two instances of sharp objects being found in Halloween candy prompted an alert from the NJ State Police.

In Barnegat, a resident reported a pin was discovered in a candy bar handed out in the Tall Timbers development. The wrapper of a Kit Kat bar was allegedly not sealed, leading the parents to inspect the candy and find a small pin.

Further west in Commercial Township, a mother told detectives she discovered a sewing needle embedded in a Tootsie Roll that her child collected that evening.
