Living in Lakewood, I'm always either seeing new construction, or hearing rumors about the next cluster of houses going up.

State environmental regulators have denied a permit to build 1,800 new homes at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club, saying the increased traffic and threats to wildlife were too severe for the project to advance. The new buildings would have taken the place of 18 of the 27 holes at Eagle Ridge.

GDMS Holdings, the real estate developer behind the deal, plans to appeal.

I don't plan on staying in Lakewood for much longer, but if they can continue to slow the exponential growth, maybe the future isn't looking as bleak.
