Nils Lofgren is standing up for Bruce Springsteen.

He wrote a letter in support of Bruce's use of a teleprompter during his shows.

A reporter wrote in The Washington Post about Bruce's use of a teleprompter on-stage, in which he chastises the Boss: "There's a reason a rock god like Springsteen might keep the prompter out of sight of his adoring fans.  Because if they saw it, would they wonder: is he singing from the heart?  Or is it just from McScroll?"

Nils sets the reporter straight by letting him know that, for instance, "many songs were covers we had never performed live.  EVER!" and "Many....were Bruce songs unrehearsed or played in years or decades."
