Story by Bozz

Happy New Year runners and walkers!! Hope everyone had a happy and relaxing holiday season. As we all know, a new year brings new years resolutions. Among the common resolutions…quit smoking, lose weight, make better financial decisions, eat healthier, etc. But one of the most popular resolutions is to work out more. You can join a gym. There are several of them around and some are less expensive as others. But, you can also get outside and run and/or walk.

Running and walking outside in the winter is quite refreshing. As most runners know, there is no substitute for running outside. Running on a treadmill is like running in place, in my opinion. It’s boring. Runners and walkers need the outdoor scenery. Now, with the temperatures where they are currently (I’m writing this blog on 1/4/18), you’re probably thinking, “Bozz, you are crazy to be out running in this weather.” Usually, I would agree with that statement, not going to lie. But actually, I’ve been hibernating these last 2 weeks myself for obvious reasons! However, it is supposed to get back to normal January NJ temperatures on Monday 1/8. Gonna be a heat wave, kids!!

Regarding the road race front, not too much action at the Jersey Shore during the winter months. If you are serious about running races this year, keep checking 1057thehawk.com for my blogs with the links to the local road races in Monmouth and Ocean counties. And don’t forget to have 105.7 The Hawk on as your soundtrack to get you through the races!
