‘New Jersey’s First Superhero’ Is Dead

When the legendary Troma Entertainment released The Toxic Avenger, he was billed as "New Jersey's First Superhero".

The film is set in Tromaville, NJ, and was actually filmed at locations around Jersey City, Boonton, Harrison, and Rutherford. In the sequels, "The Toxic Avenger Part II" and "The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie", the hero was played by John Altamura.

On May 4th, Altamura's sister posted on social media that her brother had passed away from a heart attack.

It has been years since I've seen The Toxic Avenger...and when I look at the trailer, doing the math means I was probably way too young to watch a movie like that. In memory of John Altamura, it might be time to re-watch some classic trash movies!
