The story of the rising cost of the EpiPen is one that's very near and dear to me.  So, I am very happy that some NJ lawmakers are looking into the price hike of the life-saving medication.

My husband is allergic to bees.  We have EpiPens all over the house.  He takes them to work, his parent's have them.

That's at least 6 EpiPens between all of us...  The company that manufactures the EpiPen decided to raise the price of a two-syringe package to $600.

That's at least $1800 for us.... Yikes!

And we're no different than any other family that needs to keep the life-saving medication on hand.  Most families need more than one package of EpiPens.  And they expire... quickly.

Now thankfully, New Jersey lawmakers are looking into the price hike.

According to NJ.com,

State Sen. Richard Codey (D-Essex) called for the state attorney general to scrutinize any contracts between New Jersey schools and the EpiPen maker for anti-competitive language.

"First, we learn that the company has dramatically and inexplicably hiked the cost of its medication over the last decade, potentially putting the life-saving drug out of reach for families. Now there are reports that the company may have worked to prevent schools from purchasing products from its competitors in exchange for participating in its EpiPens school distribution program."
