A veteran fire captain died early this morning after falling from the rooftop of a burning restaurant.

His two sons were fighting the blaze with him.

According to nbcnewyork.com:

Gregory Barnas, 57, was cutting a hole in the roof of the Akasaka restaurant on Paterson Avenue in Wallington when he fell, according to Wallington Fire Commissioner Mark Tomko. It's not clear what caused him to fall.

May this brave man who died a hero rest in peace, and condolences to his family for their tragic loss.
