New Area Code Coming to South Jersey

Officials are reporting that by the end of 2018, South Jersey will have run out of new phone numbers for the 609 area code. This, of course, is because everyone has a cell phone now!

So to solve this problem, a 640 area code is being created. If you already have a 609 area code, you will not be affected, it's just possible that a neighbor of yours has the new 640 area code, while you still have 609.

Use of the new area code will begin in 2018.
