Walk-on Tim Henderson sparked a second-half rally and the Cardinals earned a berth in Monday’s final with a 72-68 win over Wichita State. Henderson drained a pair of three-pointers after Cleanthony (klee-AN’-thuh-nee) Early hit a three to put the Shockers ahead 47-35 with about 13 1/2 minutes left.

Russ Smith led the Cardinals with 21 points, including three free throws in the final 29.9 seconds. Smith drained one of two from the line with 4.9 seconds remaining to put the Cards ahead by four.

Luke Hancock finished with 20 points for Louisville, while Chane Behanan added 10 and nine rebounds.

The Shockers lost despite Early’s game-highs of 24 points and 10 boards.

The Wolverines escaped with a 61-56 win over Syracuse to move into the title game for the first time since 1989. Tim Hardaway Jr. furnished 13 points, six rebounds and five assists to help help Michigan survive a wild finish.

The Wolverines’ lead was just 58-56 when Orange guard Brandon Triche (trihsh) was called for a charge with 19.2 seconds left. After Jon Horford made only one of two free throws with 17.9 seconds remaining, Syracuse brought the ball downcourt before it was swatted away, allowing Jordan Morgan to hit a game-clinching dunk.

Michigan managed to win despite little production from AP Player of the Year Trey Burke, who finished with seven points and five rebounds. Mitch McGary added 10 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high six assists to the victory.

Syracuse forward C.J. Fair led all scorers with 22 points.
