The Gonzaga Bulldogs may have been No. 1 in the final Associated Press men's basketball poll, but they're also the first No. 1 seed to be eliminated in the NCAA tournament.

No. 9 Wichita State hit a season-high 14 three-pointers, including seven during the final stages of a 76-70 win over the Bulldogs. The Shockers lived up to their nickname as they went ahead by 13 early in the game and stayed ahead with their late barrage of threes.

Cleananthony Early and Ron Baker each had 16 points as Wichita State moved into the Round of 16 for the first time in seven years.

The Shockers face the winner of Sunday's game between La Salle and Ole Miss.

Michigan's most storied college basketball programs have advanced to the regional semifinals. Michigan State is there for the fifth time in six years, while Michigan is in the round of 16 for the first time since 1994.

The third-seeded Spartans blasted No. 6 seed Memphis 70-48 in the Midwest Regional at the Place of Auburn Hills. Gary Harris was high man for the winners with 23 points, while post players Adreian Payne and Derrick Nix combined for 27 points and 18 rebounds.

Also at the Palace, the fourth-seeded Wolverines breezed past VCU 78-53 in a South Regional contest. Six-foot-10 freshman Mitch McGary led the Wolverines with season highs of 21 points and 14 rebounds. Trey Burke finished with 18 points, while Tim Hardaway Jr. and Glenn Robinson each added 14.

Top seed Louisville will carry a 12-game winning streak into the NCAA's Midwest Regional semifinals.

Russ Smith poured in 27 points and the Cardinals forced eighth seed Colorado State into a season-high 20 turnovers in ripping the Rams 82-56 in Lexington. The Cards took control with a 17-6 run that gave them a 43-28 lead in the first half.

Louisville will play Oregon on Friday in Indianapolis.

The 12th-seeded Ducks were 75-57 winners over No. 4 Saint Louis as Damyean Dotson hit his first five three-point attempts and finished with 23 points. Carlos Emory added 14 points for Oregon, which shot 8-for-11 from beyond the arc, while the Billikens went 3-for-21.

No. 3 Marquette trailed 35-27 at halftime before topping Butler 74-72 in the East Regional. Vander Blue scored 19 of his 29 points in the second half, including a game-tying three-pointer with 1:25 to play.

Trent Lockett and Wilson each added 13 points for Marquette, which will take on Sunday's winner between Miami and Illinois in the East Regional semifinals.

Fourth seed Syracuse went more than 12 minutes in the second half without a field goal and still managed to beat No. 12 California 66-60. C.J. Fair scored 18 points, James Southerland added 14 and the Orange won despite shooting 39 percent from the field and 63 percent from the line.

Syracuse takes on either Indiana or Temple in the East Regional semifinal on Thursday.

Arizona rolled to a 74-51 rout of Harvard to reach the Sweet 16 for the 15th time. Mark Lyons matched his career high with 27 points for the sixth-seeded Wildcats, who raced out to a 30-9 lead while the Crimson missed 20 of their first 22 shots.
