Monmouth University President Paul R. Brown, Ph.D. has released a statement regarding the passing of Jules Plangere.

It is impossible to understate the transformational and lasting influence Jules L. Plangere, Jr. has had on Monmouth University during his many years of service as a trustee, board chair, and visionary leader.

His legacy at Monmouth extends to almost every area of our University, including scholarship opportunities for students, academic programming, building influential centers of distinction, and support for athletic teams and facilities, which have all been strengthened by his efforts.

In so many ways our trajectory of success over the past decades is tribute to his steadfast belief in all that Monmouth University could achieve. Likewise, his philanthropic investments in civic improvement across our entire region enhanced the quality of life for many who were not fortunate enough to know him personally.

Jules was an extraordinary person of lasting influence whose personal and professional legacy we are proud to have shared."

I spent two full years of my college life hanging around the Plangere Center, where the college radio station, TV station, and newspaper were headquartered. In my freshman and sophomore year, our station was atop the Student Center, and by that point had fallen behind the technological wave. Once the Plangere building went up, our studio improved to state-of-the-art. The man donated a huge amount of money to improve the Communications Department, and really did prep me for what I'm doing now. I got to meet Mr. Plangere for a few moments at the reception for the grand opening, and it was clear how passionate and happy he was to see what his donation led to.

Thank you again for your contribution, Mr. Plangere.
