On Friday night, December 2, police discovered the body of 32-year old Dexter Dunston of Asbury Park fatally wounded by gunshots laying on the ground near 3rd Avenue and are investigating the case as a murder investigation, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.

Asbury Park Police discovered Dunston in response to a 911 call just after 8 pm Friday, where he was later transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center but died on the way to the hospital.

The Monmouth County Prosecutors Office is working with the Asbury Park Police in a joint investigation seeking information on the homicide Friday night.

The investigation remains ongoing but authorities are asking that if anyone has information regarding the incident, to contact Detective Cynthia Yost of the Asbury Park Police Department at 732-774-1300 or Detective Patrick Petruzziello of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at 800-533-7443.

The Prosecutors office adds that if you wish to remain anonymous but you have information about a crime, you can contact Monmouth County Crime Stoppers confidential telephone tip-line by calling 1-800-671-4400; you can text "MONMOUTH" plus your tip to 274637; or email a tip via the website at www.monmouthcountycrimestoppers.com. Monmouth County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of fugitives.
