Mike Rutherford, a founding member of Genesis and bassist, guitarist (lead guitar starting in 1978), and lyricist, turns 62 today.

Born October 2, 1950 in Surrey, England, he formed Mike + The Mechanics during a break from Genesis in 1985, and the band just wrapped up a European tour last August.

He also performed in the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony this past August along with Pink Floyd's Nick Mason on "Wish You Were Here".
