Her 2018 Olympic debut was delayed but worth the wait for 22-year old American MIKAELA SHIFFRIN who captured the women’s giant slalom and her second career gold medal. Shiffrin was second after the first to two runs but rallied to win the gold in what could be the first of five alpine skiing events she participates in. She’s back on the mountain tonight (our time) in the slalom where she will defend her Olympic title.

In Women’s Hockey, the US fell to bitter rival Canada 2-1 with both teams advancing to the semifinals where Canada secured the top seed.

35-year old AKSEL LUND SVINDAL of Norway won the men’s downhill with BENNETT BRICE of the US finishing 16th.

Tonight in primetime Men’s figure skating begins with the short program where 18-year old NATHAN CHEN is considered the top American medal contender. There’s also men’s alpine skiing, the men’s skeleton and women’s snowboarding.

Norway leads the medals race with 16, including 5 gold while Germany’s 8 gold medals is tops. The United States has won a total of 8 medals with 5 of them gold.
