The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling the case, says their investigation is continuing and did not offer additional details. Staten Island Congressman Michael Grimm (R), a family friend who took the lead in the search, issued a statement calling Michael’s recovery a “Thanksgiving blessing.”

“Thanks to the efforts of concerned citizens, countless volunteers, media coverage and prayers from the community, Michael Karwan has been located and will be reunited with his family just in time for the holidays.  I am very proud of Michael’s father, Walter Karwan, for his strength, faith, and perseverance throughout this trying time.” read the statement according to PIX 11.

Grimm told CBS New York that Karwan was trying to check into a Cleveland hotel run by a religious organization. When they learned Karwan was missing police were called.

Karwan disappeared from his Marlboro home  a week ago after an argument with his parents. There were various sightings of him in Manhattan and the Hudson Valley after it was learned he was given directions to Marlboro, New York by someone at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Grimm,  a former FBI agent, led a search late Saturday night around Times Square in hopes he had gone to his favorite comic book shop.

There was concern that Karwan has not taken his medication and may have been displaying child like behavior. He did not have his cell phone with him.

The Guardian Angels got involved with the search on Monday and began organizing a search around Marlboro, Freehold and in Manhattan.

CBS New York reported Karwan  may have been spotted on Eighth Avenue and West 35th Street on Monday night and near Penn Station.

Agencies involved in the search for Michael include the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Marlboro Township Police, In addition, The NJ State Police missing Persons Unit, NJ Office of Homeland Security, NYPD Missing Persons Squad, all transit hubs for the Port Authority of NY and NJ and the NJ Transit Police, the NY State Police and the Lloyd, NY Police.
