Metallica are helping open Minneapolis' new stadium with a bang — and they're inviting fans around the world to listen in.

The band's Minneapolis show, scheduled for Aug. 20 at 9PM CT at the new U.S. Bank Stadium, is already sold out. But in a message posted at their official site, they've announced that — courtesy of a deal with the Pandora streaming service — they're offering a free livestream of the event. Fans in the U.S., Australia or New Zealand can listen via Pandora; people living outside those territories will be able to access the show through the group's site.

In addition, to help whet fans' appetites for the show, the band has teamed up with Pandora to offer a sort of pre-game playlist. "To celebrate the first rock concert at the brand new home of the Minnesota Vikings and the livestream, we only thought it would be fitting to give you a taste of what we’ve been listening to lately and have curated an exclusive mixtape featuring songs handpicked by all the members of the band," adds the post. "Tune in to listen to a mix of favorites and new discoveries covering a number of different musical genres."

The Minneapolis show, which will also be available for purchase, will happen roughly a month before Metallica takes the stage at the Global Citizen Festival on Sept. 24 in New York City's Central Park. Along with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, the group will anchor the rock component of a bill loaded up with major names from the pop, R&B and electronic music world. It all leads up to the release of the long-awaited new Metallica album, which is rumored to be in stores this fall.
