The 2011 New York Jets fate will be determined over the next month. Despite their maddeningly inconsistent play, Rex Ryan's group finds themselves in a position to take over first place in the AFC East if they can defeat Buffalo (5-2) and New England (5-2) in the next two weeks. Here is how the Jets schedule breaks down and where they currently stand in the AFC as the second half of the season approaches:

Week 9: @Buffalo

Week 10: New England (Sunday Night Football)

Week 11: @Denver (Thursday Night Football)

Week 12: Buffalo

Week 13: @Washington

Week 14: Kansas City

Week 15: @Philadelphia

Week 16: New York Giants

Week 17: @Miami

New York currently finds themselves in 9th place in the conference behind Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Buffalo, New England, Baltimore, Kansas City, Houston, and Oakland. It will likely take at least ten wins to secure a playoff spot in the AFC, if not more. Their next four games are all against conference and/or division opponents. At 3-3, New York must improve against the teams they will potentially have tiebreakers with at the end of the season.

It's all about finishing strong in the National Football League. These Jets won't have that chance unless they play well in November.
