Lakewood 5-Year-Old Never Presented a Real Threat Say Officials

Lakewood school officials say a 5-year-old who was suspended for threatening to bring a gun to school did not present a real threat to the safety of students.

In a statement, the district acknowledged the firestorm of media attention the suspension of the Spruce Street School student received.

"Taking into consideration the facts of the matter and the age of the student involved, we want to stress that we are satisfied that there was never any actual threat or danger to the students for staff of the District. The well-being of our students and staff remains our highest priority," said the district in a statement to theLakewoodScoop.com.

Police were called when the student was upset and threatened to go home and get a gun. He was suspended for 2 days.
