Kiss Perform New Song ‘Hell or Hallelujah’ on ‘Letterman’
Kiss returned this week with ‘Monster,’ their first new studio album in three years — and they marked the occasion last night (Oct. 10) by showing up at the Ed Sullivan Theater to treat the audience at ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ to a performance of the new song ‘Hell or Hallelujah.’
The band debuted ‘Hallelujah’ way back in July, and it’s gone on to top the iTunes Rock Songs chart while breaking the Top 40 on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. The Paul Stanley composition is due to be followed by the second single, ‘Long Way Down,’ in a couple of weeks, but for their ‘Letterman’ appearance, Kiss opted to stick with their current hit.
Initial reactions are still coming in for ‘Monster,’ but it’s already attracted a wave of solid reviews, including our own 7 out of 10 rating. Containing a dozen brand new songs — and no material from outside writers — it finds the band using what bassist Gene Simmons summed up as “tubes, electricity and thick wood” to produce “that thick sound.”
The next leg of the band’s tour, which will send them throughout South America, kicks off Nov. 7 in Buenos Aires.
