Add a reissue of what many consider to be Kiss‘s finest album to the cornucopia of new merchandise available from the band in 2012. Their 1976 ‘Destroyer’ album has been remixed and readied for an Aug. 21 release. The package will also include rare and previously unheard recordings, plus the artwork the band originally intended to use.

According to post on the band’s website, the comic book style cover (seen above) was scrapped because the record label felt images of burning buildings were too violent. ‘Destroyer’ was Kiss’s first platinum album, and in the 36 years since its release it has gone multi-platinum.

The major addition to the new package is additional vocals on ‘Beth,’ the Peter Criss-sang cut that became the Kiss’s first Top 10 hit. There is also an new guitar solo on a bonus version of ‘Sweet Pain.’ Bob Ezrin produced the original album, and was brought in to handle the remix. ‘Shout It Out Loud’ and ‘Detroit Rock City’ are two other notable songs from an album that regularly makes Best Albums of All Time lists. The ‘Destroyer’ reissue will also be available on vinyl.

On Oct. 16 Kiss will release a highly-anticipated new studio album called ‘Monster.’ They’ve already released ‘Hell or Hallelujah,’ the album’s first single and a limited-edition ‘Monster’ book, that costs a smidge under $4,300. On Friday, they’ll begin their summer tour with Motley Crue.
