John Lennon’s Guitar Sells For $2.4 Million

The acoustic guitar John Lennon used to record early Beatles' hits like "She Loves You," "Please, Please, Me," "All My Loving" and "From Me to You," was auctioned off and sold for $2.4 million.

In 1963, Lennon & George Harrison bought identical acoustic guitars for £161 each. Lennon's guitar went missing after a gig in December 1963, and resurfaced last year. A New York-based expert was able to confirm that the guitar was authentic.

Julien's Auctions of Los Angeles promoted the auction as "the most important Beatle guitar ever to hit the auction block."
