John Entwistle would have turned 69 years old this week, born on October 9, 1944 in London, England.

He died in June 2002 at age 57 in Las Vegas of a heart attack induced by cocaine one day before the scheduled first show of The Who's 2002 US tour.

But he left behind not only a musical legacy but a foundation that works to improve the lives of children in need with The John Entwistle Foundation.

Our primary mission is music education for underserved children. However, we have also done quite a bit for disaster relief as well. We feel, as John Entwistle did, that if we can help we should. Whenever we have chosen to get involved with various fund raising efforts beyond our own mission it was simply because that’s what John would have done.

R.I.P. to not only a great musician, but a caring man.
