Aerosmith have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on ‘Music From Another Dimension,’ which the band claim is a return to their roots. The group reunited with classic Aerosmith producer Jack Douglas for their first new album in 11 years, and they’ve been talking it up in the press, but now that it’s nearing release, guitarist Joe Perry says he’s not sure how radio or audiences will respond to the new music.

“I don’t really know who this record is going to appeal to. I don’t think the record company knows for sure even how to market it,” Perry admits in a new interview with LA Weekly. “Certainly there are classic rock stations for classic rock bands to play their classic songs. These are brand-new songs. Will they be classics in 20 years? I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out in 20 years.”

In the meantime Aerosmith have been on the road playing their classic hits to packed houses, including a recent tour stop in Denver on Aug. 1. Before that concert Perry visited the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command at the Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado, where he met a fan named Joe Piscitelli, an SMDC employee. Piscitelli is credited for coming up with the title for Perry’s 2009 solo album ‘Have Guitar, Will Travel’ after his suggestion was chosen out of 2,000 contest submissions.

‘Music From Another Dimension’ is slated to drop Nov. 6 from Columbia Records.
