The arguably most recognized image of Sandy's destruction, the Jet Star Roller Coaster that ended up in the ocean in Seaside Heights after the superstorm hit last fall, will be taken away soon.

According to an article at our sister station, New Jersey 101.5:

Seaside Heights Mayor Bill Akers says, even though the roller coaster’s removal is a private contract, he’s confident it will be gone before Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial kickoff of the summer tourism season.

He says the contract is signed and work is expected to take up to four days.

Akers also says that the rebuilding of Seaside Heights is right on schedule and that visitors will be pleasantly surprised when they visit during the first (unofficial) weekend of the summer tourist season.
