Greetings runners and walkers!! Hold on a sec…is that warmer weather that we’ve been experiencing lately or something? Finally!! Well, it’s not summer yet, but the summer season gets underway in less than a month. That means….the population of your Shore town doubles, if not triples in population….you know who the culprits are because of this, right? That also means that the runners and walkers step off of the treadmill aside and head out on the roads and boardwalks.

More so this year than last, there are quite a few races scheduled for the month of May. Among them…the Run The Hook 5K/10K in Sandy Hook on Mother’s Day. Yours truly will be running this one for the 2nd time (last was in 2016). There’s also the annual Bay Head 5K to benefit the Kate Shea Foundation. And of course, the summer season wouldn’t officially start without the Spring Lake Five Mile Run. The race that started out with a just a couple hundred runners 40 years now draws 10,000 +. It’s amazing because Spring Lake is only 1.7 miles long, with a year-round resident population of around 3,000. Unfortunately, the Spring Lake Five is sold out. But you can click on the link below to find where some of the post-race parties are taking place.

The following are the links to the road races for May in Monmouth and Ocean counties. If you’re planning on running or walking any of these, good luck, enjoy them and be safe. And don’t forget to have 105.7 The Hawk on as your running soundtrack via 1057thehawk.com, radiopup.com and the Hawk mobile app.
