There were some tense moments in Jackson yesterday after gunfire was reported and several schools went into lockdown.

Police arrested 56-year-old Anthony Blaszka who allegedly fired multiple rounds of a 12 gauge shotgun out of his bedroom window on Georgian Boulevard. He faces several charges and remains jailed on $150,000 bail. No one was injured.

After the shots were heard during outdoor field day activities at the nearby Holman Elementary School, lockdowns were put in place at the Holman Elementary, McAuliffe Middle and Jackson Liberty High Schools.

Students were held at the schools until policfe gave the all-clear around 3:45 p.m. leading to late dismissal for students.

A home on Laurelton Avenue where two people were inside was struck by at least four rounds according to Jackson Police. They were evacuated from the home and were unharmed. Officers evacuated other residents from the immediate area as a search for the shooting suspect and any possible victims was conducted.

School is in session as scheduled in Jackson on Friday.
