Howell High School rumored threat ruled unsubstantiated
Howell Police have deemed the rumor of a threat at the high school Wednesday unsubstantiated.
Police say the school community was never at imminent risk and that no criminal charges are being filed.
Further information on the rumored threat or investigative detail has not been released.
Police Chief Andrew Kudrick issued a statement in response to all the buzz yesterday:
"Yesterday, Howell Police investigated this incident. Our investigators have determined there is no threat to Howell High School at this time. Although student status is confidential in such a matter, the actions taken by the high school administration are consistent with the expectations of this department.
While fear of such a tragic incident occurring is understood, the police department and high school would release information immediately if we believed the school community was at imminent risk. This was not the case. Instead, rumors began to spread.
Parents are reminded not to circulate or interpret as real information that is only speculative. Principal Braverman and I are in constant communication with one another. I can assure you the safety of the school community is our highest priority.
At this time, there will be no further action taken by this department. No criminal charges have been filed. No further information release will follow unless there are additional developments that we believe warrants notification. We have considered this initial incident CLOSED."
