The Little League team from Jackson Township that had our eyes all summer long and came within a brink of a championship title watches with stunned eyes as the league's president and treasurer are facing criminal charges.

League President Anthony M. Del Vecchio, 63, and League Treasurer John M. Lehmann, 55, both of Jackson Township were arrested today and charged with 2nd degree Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft for the misappropriation of league finances.

The Ocean County Economic Crimes Unit began investigating Del Vecchio and Lehmann after they received an anonymous letter in December of 2017 detailing the alleged theft of funds from their own league, according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

An extensive review of Holbrook Little League finances from 2014 to present was then conducted by OCPO with the full cooperation of the League Executive Board members.

The board noticed something wasn't right and started having concerns about League funds after noticing some discrepancies in their accounts.

Del Vecchio and Lehmann, the sole signatories on the league bank accounts, had allegedly converted over $118,000.00 of Holbrook Little League funds to their benefit.

Lehmann was the sole debit cardholder on the league account and had allegedly misused the card in excess of $500.00.

Del Vecchio, was joined by his attorney Richard LoMurro of Freehold, this morning when he surrendered to OCPO.

Lehmann, was arrested at his place of employment just after 2:00 pm today with the assistance of the Rahway Police Department.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
