Boaters (myself included) are pretty angry at the new $3 fee officials want to charge them to go on the beach from the Tice's Shoal crossover this Summer, and there is a petition going around to stop the fee.

For over 20+ years boaters would hangout at Tice's Shoal in Barnegat Bay, and at some point use the wooden fisherman's Crossover at parking lot A7 to go on the beach or bathhouse for a little while and return to their boats later on. It has always been free. But now officials want to charge $3 PER PERSON to walkover to the beach's new, lifeguard-protected swimming area near the A-7 section of Island Beach State Park this summer .

Boaters feel that if it's free for pedestrians and bicyclists to enter Island Beach State Park why should people walking in by boat have to pay. Plenty of people park their car outside the park and enter by foot.

A petition is going around to keep access to IBSP  from Tice's Shoal FREE. Click here to sign the petition
