Three people are recovering from injuries resulting from this morning's horrific head-on crash between a Jeep and a street sweeper on Route 9 in Toms River.

According to police, Michael Dorsey, 21, of Toms River was behind the wheel of the SUV that hurtled into the truck just north of Silverton Road about 5:30 AM.

The sweeper driver, Jose Saravia-Alfaro, 26, of Union, told police that he was northbound on 9 when the speeding Jeep veered out of its southbound lane in his direction.

Dorsey told investigators that he had no recollection of the collision and that he might have been asleep at thw wheel.

Saravia-Alfaro and a passenger in the sweeper, Martinez Lopez, 27, of Rahway, were rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

wobmDorsey sustained a leg injury and was treated at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
