Happy Birthday, Malcolm Young!
Malcolm Young celebrates his 61st birthday today, born on January 6, 1953 in Glasgow, UK.
The band’s founder, rhythm guitarist and vocalist has been described as the business and brains behind AC/DC, and he’s responsible for so many of their unforgettable signature riffs.
He has previously confirmed that the band are working on a potential follow-up to 2008’s Black Ice but made it clear that fans are in for a longer wait than expected, after lead singer Brian Johnson suggested there would be new material in 2013.
Since, according to nme.com, in 2012 they said the new album would be out in “a year or two”, this new year might well bring AC/DC fans something to look forward to:
We are still working. But we had a long rest between Stiff Upper Lip and Black Ice, so I think we need a couple of years to recuperate and work on it a bit more.
And speaking of things to look forward to, last spring Steven Tyler said he has something on his bucket list: he wants to tour with AC/DC.
According to classicrockmagazine.com, “I would take a pay cut to play with AC/DC. It’s one of my last things to do – go on tour with with them.”
Me thinks fans have some things to look forward to!
