Gunman In Point Pleasant Beach Standoff Dies
A man who climbed to the roof of a hardware store in Point Pleasant Beach and then shot himself in the face has died of his injuries.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office issued a statement that Robert F. Terry III, 33, of Port Monmouth died at 12:55 p.m. on Thursday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Terry had been involved in a "domestic incident" in Brick early Wednesday morning and then made his way to Point Pleasant Beach after daybreak in a cab. He was spotted by police and fled the taxi on foot, making his way to the roof of Bain Hardware on Arnold Avenue.
The Brick SWAT went to the roof and Terry shot himself in the head with a .25 caliber hand gun. He was taken via medical helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center
