Eddie Van Halen turns 57 today, born January 26, 1955 in The Netherlands, but raised in Pasadena, California.

To say he's a guitar virtuoso is, of course, to repeat what all of us already know.  So, if you'll indulge me for a minute, let me share with you my personal description of his amazing fretwork.

Every time I hear Eddie play, it makes me grin from ear to ear and hang on tight for the thrill as he takes me on a sonic rollercoaster.

He dips and dives, rounds tight corners, builds tension climbing to musical heights, and then brings it all home in a screeching earfest.

And, like being at Disney World, I always want to go right back on that ride.

We salute you, oh Master of the Axe!  The day Eddie was born was a very good day for the guitar and for all who attempt to master it.  Or simply enjoy a good ride.
