Cape May County Zoo has announced the birth of a male giraffe!

Freeholder E. Marie Hayes, liaison to the park and zoo, said the calf, born November 17th, is "doing well", but "unfortunately, because of the winter weather temperatures, he won’t be visible to our guests anytime soon."

The calf was almost 6 feet tall when he was born and weight about 150 pounds. He is the third calf born to the Zoo's female ‘Joanie’ and is the fifth reticulated giraffe in the herd. He is joined by his mother and father, ‘Sterling’, his big sister, ‘Zee,’ and his aunt, ‘June.’
