A Freehold police officer delivered a baby at a gas station when the mother began to deliver the baby en route to the hospital.A Lakewood couple was headed to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick early Sunday morning and realized the baby wasn't going to wait for the 32 mile trip. according to the Lakewood Scoop.com.  The couple called Freehold Police and pulled into an Exxon gas station on Route 9 reports the Asbury Park Press.

Officers Frank Mount & Drew Galaydick responded and delivered the baby girl in the station's parking lot. EMS arrived shortly and transported the family the rest of the way.

“It was a big surprise,” clerk Paramgit Singh told the Asbury Park Press  of the police and EMS that filled the parking lot.
