It's been a while since Sacha Baron Cohen was ousted from the Queen biopic, and we've been waiting to find out who his replacement will be; the new actor is...

According to The Guardian, Whishaw's casting comes after Queen drummer Roger Taylor mentioned his preference for the British actor to play Mercury.

In a recent interview with Mojo, Taylor said "We felt Sacha probably wasn't right in the end...We didn't want it to be a joke. We want people to be moved."

Ben Whishaw has already played classic rockers in the past, as Bob Dylan in 2007's "I'm Not There" and Keith Richards in 2005's "Stoned".

More reports are saying the movie will focus on the band's history ending with the 1985 Live Aid performance.  There are no plans to include Mercury's personal life or AIDS-related death. This issue is what apparently drove Cohen away from the rest of the group, as he wanted to do a grittier retelling of every aspect of Mercury's life.

Here's a side-by-side of Whishaw and Mercury, what do you think?
