Kevin Meier, 23, of Seaside Heights, was indicted earlier this week on one count of possession and one count of distribution of child pornography, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Seaside Heights Chief Thomas Boyd announced.

Meier was employed as a Seaside Heights special police officer in the summer of 2015. He was immediately fired after being arrested when his residence on Sheridan Avenue was identified as a source of child pornography.

Police had been investigating a referral from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The NCMEC and the NJ State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force traced images back to Ocean County, and evidence was found at Meier's home.

Meier’s bail at that time was set at $50,000, no 10 percent, by Judge Paul Gluck. He was incarcerated for a time in the Ocean County Jail; however, Meier is presently released on bail according to prosecutor's office spokesperson Al Della Fave.
