So many pet owners were affected by the devastation that Sandy caused and could use help for themselves and their furry companions.

The American Humane Association is doing their part to help both humans and animals in the aftermath of Sandy's destruction.

From their website:

"An estimated 60 million people and 30 million animals including 14.5 million dogs, 15.3 million cats, and 1.5 million horses were caught in the path of killer Hurricane Sandy....many beloved pets have been lost or left behind when their families had to flee to shelters that don't take animals. American Humane Association's 82-foot mobile command center and Red Star Rescue team are on the ground with the support of MARS Petcare US, makers of Pedigree and Whiskas, to rescue, shelter, comfort, and reunite frightened animals with their families."

This organization is doing wonderful work.

You can help them by texting HUMANE to 80888 to donate $10.

By the way, if you can make it down to the Humane Society of Atlantic County at 1401 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, you can pick up pet supplies if you need them.

I contacted them on their FB page and they responded:

"AHA was here over the weekend, we are still handing out supplies (dog food, cat food & cat litter) thru the week during our regular shelter hours 11 - 3 Tuesday thru Sunday."
