One Dead in Fire at Point Pleasant Beach Motel
One person is dead in a huge fire burned through the Mariner's Cover Motor Inn in Point Pleasant early Friday morning.
ABC 7 reports the blaze, with flames shooting through the roof of the two story structure on Broadway, started around 5:30 a.m. Friday morning. Several rooms are occupied according to the station.
The Star-Ledger reports a resident of the motel was killed and and an officer with the Ocean County Sheriff's Department was injured.
The flames were very intense according to 6 ABC which kept firefighters away from the building at first.
Assistant Ocean County Fire Marshal Ed Hazelton described the hotel as being completely destroyed to the Star-Ledger.
New Jersey Fast Traffic reports that Broadway in Point Pleasant Beach is closed between Boston Avenue and Ocean Avenue
The fire was declared as being under control at 7:06 a.m. according to Newsworks.
There are several injuries reported.
