"American Sniper" is the movie it seems just about everyone is talking about, and one of the reasons it's getting so much attention is the unfortunate use of a very obviously fake baby.

This film is otherwise getting a lot of positive attention, according to screencrush.com:

The movie has had a record-shattering weekend at the box office, grossing an astounding $105 million from Friday to Monday. It’s already the second biggest earner of Clint Eastwood’s entire career after ‘Gran Torino,’ and with six Academy Award nominations (and great word-of-mouth) behind it, it’s posed to become his biggest hit ever.

There are debates over the film’s politics, its depiction of the War in Iraq, and more, but ‘American Sniper's fans and detractors can all agree on one thing: this baby is fake.

Of course, said baby now has her own twitter account and is anticipating a nomination for best-supporting non-human, even if she got some help from Bradley Cooper (watch him moving her hand below): :-D

So why did they use a fake baby?

According to screencrush.com, screenwriter Jason Hall said in a tweet that he later deleted,  the real baby they’d hired for the job “showed up with a fever” and the backup “was a no show.” Left with no other choice (or too impatient to wait for another choice), the notoriously speedy Eastwood decided to shoot the scene with a very obvious doll.
